Our Own Kind of Adventure
What is adventure?
To some, it might mean jumping out of a plane or jumping off of a bridge with ropes attached to your ankles. For others it may mean a trip overseas to a new country. And for others, buying a home and raising a family is the kind of adventure they like.
Each person you meet probably has their definition of adventure.
According to Webster’s dictionary, the definition of adventure is this:
“an exciting or remarkable experience; an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks”
Now some might be expecting to only see one kind of adventure in our content, but I like to think that every day is an adventure. Every day has the possibility for “an exciting or remarkable experience”. So while some may think our life is boring and not adventurous at all, our hope is that you’d be able to see the adventure in everything we do.
A few years ago I got the word adventure tattooed on my arm. Sometimes I feel like it’s cliche and people probably see it and think that I’m some wannabe adventurer that is actually just stuck home with four kids, but I think when you take a step back you have the power to make adventures part of your every day life. And this tattoo reminds me to do just that. Would I like to go on wild and crazy adventures to South Africa, Iceland or Thailand? Yes. But is having kids one of the greatest adventures I’ve ever embarked on? Yes.
So for now, the kind of adventures you might see on our page will be things like building a garden, renovating an attic, homeschooling a preschooler (or maybe even a 4th grader!), etc.
If you stick around, I guarantee you’ll find something you enjoy. And one day we hope to work as travel nurses and homeschool our children as we explore the USA, or live on a sailboat and sail the Caribbean, visiting each island along the way. There will be big adventures and small adventures, but all adventures nonetheless.
So I’ll continue to look at my adventure tattoo as I go about my life and always remind myself to make life an adventure.
